Synopsis
A mother has been told that she has only a short time to live. She waits for her son in her hometown, but he is too busy working to become a doctor in the city to make time to go home and visit his mother. On her birthday, a spring day full of forthysia blossoms, the mother rises after a sleepless night and sets off for the city to find her son.
Purpose
I wanted to talk about the elderly people who are living alone and remind the audience that this is “their story” and not just someone else’s story. By showing the spring season and the mother’s gift of hwajeon, a pan-fried rice cake made from flower petals, I wanted to convey the message that there is only “now” or never.
The cute-looking characters were used to make the film more enjoyable to watch and make the ending more emotional.
