Synopsis
After the dissolution of 'Mega Five,' a heroic organization dedicated to saving the world, Red continues his vigilant heroism, embodying the concept of 'a symbol of peace.'
Purpose
I conceived [REDMAN] with the belief that what makes a person most human is the contradictions within them. The protagonist, Red, also harbors deep contradictions within himself. After the dissolution of the hero organization "Mega Five," Red, who is now a symbol of peace, gradually becomes aware of his own contradictions through the death of a comrade. As a leader who once pursued justice more fervently than anyone else, Red finds himself increasingly powerless in the face of the very justice (law) he once championed, and eventually, he becomes a commercialized figure. Furthermore, Red comes to realize that the justice he sought to uphold was not an objective justice, but rather a personal desire stemming from his feelings of inferiority and his longing for recognition from Miharu. Ultimately, Red sheds his mask and begins to live as his true self, Akagi. Through <REDMAN>, I aim to challenge the audience's belief in "objective truths" and to convey the inner peace that comes from deep self-reflection. I hope that, by the end of the film, the audience will recognize their own "masks" and perhaps share a knowing, bittersweet smile.
