Synopsis
One ordinary morning, the main character is heading to school when a strange man is suddenly flattened by a falling sign. When the startled character removes the sign, the stranger calmly asks, “Are you okay?” The character is startled awake from their dream, but from that moment they continue to be affected by the bizarre events and the stranger’s insistent question. Reality and dreams become mixed and a sense of anxiety builds. The character struggles to escape from the ever deepening nightmare but only sinks deeper into it as if falling through quicksand. Unable to discern dreams from the real world, can they break the chains of the nightmare and escape?
Purpose
We wanted to portray the minds of youths who are entering society while being under pressure to “succeed and be okay even when it’s tough.” The main character has a recurring nightmare and gradually realizes that it is a dream, but trying to wake up only makes the situation worse. We compared this state of dreaming to being trapped in a “swamp.” Once you fall into it, it’s hard to get out. This shows the psychological pressure that today’s youths are under and the emotional pit that is hard to escape.
