Synopsis
This is a poor hillside village that is being demolished. In the quiet afternoon, Young-hee sees the head of her village giving out papers to those neighbors who have remained in the village. She wants to have a piece of paper, too, so she grabs the hem of his clothes and points to the paper with a bright face. The paper says "Notification of Demolition," and he does not want to give it to Young-hee’s mother himself. So he gives the paper to Young-hee and says, "Give this paper to your mom." Then, he goes down to the village. Young-hee climbs up the high stairway in order to give the paper to her mom.
Purpose
Demolition and development share the same space in Seoul. The development of Seoul discards the memory of the space and makes a break with the previous era. This development has happened rapidly. There is a kid who plays alone in a poor hillside village, which soon disappears into the middle of Seoul. How does a child perceive the city as it demolishes and develops itself? I wanted to make a short animation about it.
