Synopsis
In Sergeant Jung’s barracks, there are only sergeants and corporals due to a lack of new recruits. For Sergeant Jung, they are friends, family and comrades all in the same boat. They celebrate each other’s birthdays, and anything that breaks their rules is not taken lightly. One day, a new recruit named Hong is placed in Jung’s barracks. Frustrated by the unfair permissions for leave, Jung becomes determined to train the misfit Hong into the perfect soldier. When the training finally seems to be paying off, Hong’s tricks are discovered during a group exercise, and everyone in the barracks goes through disciplinary punishment. From then on, Jung’s life doesn’t go as planned.
Purpose
The Window is a short animation that shows the violence in the army, its consequences, and how the army deals with those consequences. I wanted to reveal the true nature of the military establishment by showing realistic scenes similar to a live action film. By combining 2D and 3D elements, I focused on achieving detailed movement and realism rather than creating a fairy tale.
