The protagonist lives in the eastern world where he enjoys happiness and delight. Then he encounters a power, a reality, a competition, and another marvelous world. He enters this new world and finds joy and triumph in the competition. But he fails to keep up and falls into a bottomless pit of despair. Yet he does not give up his good will, which helps him travel to the mysterious and spiritual world of the east. During his journey, he sees a spirit which tells him, “New discoveries take place everywhere. We just don’t know it. Open your eyes, right where you are!” The protagonist opens his eyes and realizes that nothing has changed, but everything is delightful now. He returns to the eastern world of happiness and awakening.

This film consists of various symbols of “the way.” The Way is both my story and your story. We always have dreams. The journey of a human being always leads to solitude. So the important message of this film is that dreams beget new dreams. There are traditional Korean folk pictures that Korean people drew a long time ago. These pictures show the world of dreams, ideals, and happy pleasures of people who didn’t have advanced knowledge. In these pictures, I can see the beautiful and universal dreams of Korean people and other human beings. What is happiness? Using various symbols, I ask myself this question of whether we are happy now. I try to express the peaceful life, the desires of reality, competition, the world of western power and glory. There is sadness, a crash, a setback, solitude, a seed of kindness, and an awakening. I want to show that happiness is not something external; it is right under your feet, shining like the morning dew. I saw and felt it in the Korean folk pictures. So I made this film using the symbols of reality in the backgrounds of those pictures.
