Synopsis
The main character is afraid of the way other people see him, due to his past memories. Although he plucks up the courage to step outside, the world is full of fear. Eventually, the main character hides himself in a hat because of his insurmountable fear.
Purpose
Childhood trauma causes people to have a sensitive and fragile state that is the same as when they were children even when they are full-grown adults. So, I gave the main character the appearance of an immature child.
The hat represents both the child’s trauma and the medium through which the child can escape from the harsh reality into his own world. Although the child sneaks into his own world by pulling the hat over his head, this scene shows that the child is calling out for help. It may take some time, but I am sure that someone will take the hat off the child.
