Synopsis
In a cozy room made from own her hair, her mind and body are united as one. But the outside world inevitably intrudes upon her space, forcing her to defend it from the troubles of the world.
Purpose
In terms of visualizing personal space, I present specific characteristics of hair such as the way of making its own space by creating darkness, having mental attachment, expressing one’s own emotions and carrying the compressed history of time (DNA). The personal space is physically small, but the world of the imagination transcends the physical space. The center of personal space is solid like the root of the hair. It is a space of inertia that can’t be changed or denied, like the integrated identity, or DNA.
However, the tip of the longer hair is attached to the external space (society), so the hair builds the boundary line between personal space and external space. By this fact, the hair carries variable characteristics because it cannot block the light or the sound of external society crossing the boundary line. Therefore, I raise the question of how to establish and maintain physical and psychological personal space which cannot be isolated from the society and culture.
